Burnout is having an increasingly negative impact on leaders across the healthcare and public health sectors.

Having worked in healthcare and public health for three decades, very few have experienced this to the degree that I have. This is why I’ve spent the last 20 years helping leaders develop strategies that allow them to increase their mental resilience and avoid burnout. Whether it’s mental fatigue, anxiety, and loss of productivity I’m here to thoughtfully guide you through reframing crises, intentionally promote self-care, and fulfil your purpose.

Let’s discuss how we can partner together so I can show you, and your organization, how to become more mentally resilient to crisis and adversity.

Shawn's Coaching

Shawn Frederick is the founder and principal of Frederick Solutions LLC. A native of New Orleans, he started his career as Corpsman in the Navy. Assigned to various duty stations over his 20 year career, he had the opportunity to support service members during the L.A. Riots, counter drug operations, Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

After retiring from the Navy, he continued his healthcare career as a medical and dental practice manager working in community health. During this time he oversaw several new business initiatives and facility construction projects. His experience with natural and man-made disasters made him an ideal choice to represent that agency in the regional healthcare coalition, developing coordination plans and building relationships that would prove vital in the future. It was his work with public health that would lead him to pivot careers and become an emergency management professional with the local health district.

In time his career would pivot again as he rapidly rose through the ranks, first to division director and ultimately as the agency's Administrative Officer. This would prove to be his most challenging role, as his local health jurisdiction would receive notification of having the first confirmed U.S. Covid case in January of 2020. During the next three years he leveraged his skill as a leader, mentor, and coach guiding complex and highly politicized responsive efforts to combat the deadly pandemic.

He is a consummate professional and skilled problem solver who thrives in challenging situations. Adaptable, he is often sought out by colleagues to manage difficult organizational changes. Throughout his career, he sought out new challenges in both the public and private sectors. He has held executive positions in mental health and public health and served as a local elected official. He holds an MBA with a focus in Finance, and Executive Certificate in Non-Profit Leadership.
